Billy Beasley
State Representative Billy Beasley was facing multiple opponents in a tough Democratic primary with multiple candidates. Our goal was to separate Billy from the rest of the candidates and make it to the runoff. We did, and Beasley is now a State Senator.

Beasley had sponsored a statewide bond issue to pave roads and build bridges that would have created thousands of jobs across Alabama, so that was a key part of his platform. With a hat-tip to Star Wars and a willing road crew, we were able to put together this much-discussed mail piece to lay out Billy’s plan for jobs.
The Democratic primary audience in this district was heavily African-American, so in addition to our “jobs” campaign platform, Beasley also had to focus on traditional Democratic issues – schools, children, and seniors. This piece established Beasley’s credentials among traditional Democrats and was a lot of fun to photograph.
Finally, the roads-and-bridges theme was clearly a big part of our mail campaign. With this piece we were able to convey a lot of detail about Beasley’s road plan and give voters a sense of Billy’s ability to get things done.
